Modern Cleopatra

A style icon known for flame red hair and loving elegance, Jessica Chastain has wowed me like never before at Cannes. She fully channeled modern Cleopatra in two in ivory gowns by Versace Collection and Givenchy respectively, fitting as the second event was the Cleopatra Cocktail Party hosted by Bulgari.

What made her looks so compelling were the simple, yet utterly ornate, Bulgari jewels. The first look saw Jessica wearing an iconic sapphire necklace, once owned and worn quite often by Bulgari fan and Cleopatra herself Elizabeth Taylor. I have read about this piece many times before due to my obsession with this jewelry atelier and it made my heart skip a beat to see it on the red carpet again.

To let her locks do the talking in the second look, Jessica was befitted with one piece: an emerald cocktail ring. An understated flash of color in an otherwise ivory ensemble.

Though I've never really thought about it before, Jessica would actually make a stunning choice as an ambassador for Bulgari. In the vein of Julianne Moore, Miss Chastain has the beauty, both inside and out, to perfectly suit my beloved brand.

Dior @ Cannes

You may have noticed that Ladylike Chic has been taking a little break as of late, but the barrage of ladylike looks have made it impossible not to report. So we're officially back, starting with the first of several looks at the Cannes Film Festival

The sheer quantity of couture and luxury creations showcased during this weeklong festival is enough to make even the jaded fashionista swoon, so you can just imagine what it does to me. Thus I wanted to start off with the stunning creations by the house of Dior

From Oscar winning actresses on the red carpet to the chic elite at the atelier's unveiling of their resort collection, Dior had a major presence this Cannes season. Best dressed in Dior

Nicole Kidman, hands down. She is starting to channel her inner Grace Kelly, just in time for the biopic to be released.

More goodies to come tomorrow!

The China Paradox: Mixed Messages from Luxury Brands

As Fashionbi showcased in the newest issue of their monthly magazine, China is one of the most influential regions of the fashion industry today. And as both Burberry and LVMH Moët Hennessy - Louis Vuitton (LVMH) unveiled their recent financials, it looks as though the ever-expanding Asia Pacific region has seemingly taken on a new role: as a determining factor for a brand's success or failure.

From Digital Back to the Editorial: Brands' Journey through Innovations

The past few years may have seen a migration of fashion editors moving into the retail game, but let’s face it, fashion magazines are still a viable way for brands to reach an engaged audience. Runway to Retail: Zac Posen

After a bit of a break, I'm so happy we're back to our ladylike chic ways! And what better way to pick up than by showcasing how one of the gorgeous Fall/Winter 2013 collections transforms from the runway to the retail floor.

Zac Posen's Fall/Winter 2013 collection was a vision of his greatest talents, stunning tailoring, rich colors, and a flair for the dramatic. And although the entire collection was a masterpiece, I am particularly fond of the pieces presented in shades of rouge. Well thanks to fashion website Moda Operandi, who introduced a pre-sale trunk show of this collection, we can see the wine-colored creations translated beautifully to real life. In fact the finale gown is as glorious in its retail incarnation as it was when Coco Rocha wore it on the runway.

I highly encourage you all to check out the rest of Moda Operandi's Zac Posen trunk show here, as they have curated a gorgeous selection of pieces from this collection.
