Modern Jackie

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis is, without a doubt, one of the most stylish women in history.  Her grace, elegance, and strength has generations of women, myself included.

She is known for so many iconic style moments, that it would take too long to list all of them in one post.  There are her classic sunglasses, her perfect coif, and those stunning Chanel jackets....

As Jackie continues to influence my sartorial choices, I've recreated three of Jackie's iconic styles, giving them the thoroughly modern twist this blog was built on.  They do say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?

Switching out the matching skirt with a leather Jason Wu pencil skirt has given this look a little edge.  And for the cherry on the sundae, I added two pops of color in the clutch and stud earrings.

While Jackie looks beautiful in pastel blue, choosing a cobalt color brings this look to now.  Since this Roksanda Ilincic dress has a yellow panel at its back, I paired it an adorable yellow and pearl necklace.  Another modern update to the classic strand of pearls...

As I've said before on the blog, I love a colorful pant.  These red beauties are a perfect update to Jackie's look and I couldn't resist pairing some gold jewelry with them.  Even a casual look deserves a little shine.

Suit Look: Rebecca Taylor jacket, Haider Ackermann blouse, Jason Wu skirt, Michael Kors clutch, and Kate Spade earrings.
Sheath Look: Roksanda Ilincic dress, Hobbs Invitation belt, Miu Miu clutch, and Kate Spade necklace.
Casual Look: Rick Owens top, Catherine Malandrino cropped pants, Burberry sunglasses, AZ Collection bracelet, and Tory Burch shoes.

Chanel's Finest

There is absolutely nothing more beautiful in this world than Chanel's fine jewelry pieces.  This gorgeous video takes you behind the scenes of Chanel's Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

As my friend Yazmin would say, j'adore!

Dark Atelier

Set among the luxurious furnishings in Boucheron's Parisian atelier, model Natalia Krauchanka  channeled Coco Chanel in this gorgeous editorial for the South China Morning Post Style Magazine.  The pieces (all modern creations) call back to this golden era of fashion while still maintaing their modernity.

I just adore how the photographer Nikolay Biryukov kept this spread from looking too vintage by playing with a sense of light and dark.  When I look at the photos, I am left wondering what secrets this woman is hiding in her closet.

Simply perfect...

Spider-Woman

The gorgeous Emma Stone has been out and about promoting her new movie, The Amazing Spider-Man, and she has been showing us some lovely red carpet looks.  Emma has the amazing ability to transform her look from sweet and modest to sultry and sexy depending on the event.

Personally, I love it best when Emma rocks the ladylike chic look (no surprise there).  And although it took me a while to get used to her blonde locks, I'm now supremely in love with her refreshing summer 'do.

My favorite Emma looks from the last several weeks are below...

Martin Grant dress and Brian Atwood heels

Flawless makeup

Emilio Pucci dress and Christian Louboutin heels

A lovely gold leaf headband

Andrew Gn dress and Christian Louboutin heels

Her Cincinnati

I have been craving a new magazine for the Cincinnati set for a while, so I was very pleased to attend the launch of the new lifestyle magazine, Her Cincinnati.  As I walked in to High Street, an absolutely gorgeous fashion and décor shop, I was approached by a woman on skates wanting to show me upstairs.  I knew right then and there that I was going to like this magazine.

And like it I did.  Flipping through the pages as I took in the scenery of Cincinnati's fashion elite, I was mesmerized by the artistic cover and the sweet, country-esque fashion shoot.  The writing was simple: simply good.  Not like any other fashion and lifestyle magazine I had read in a while, it's like talking to a friend on a relaxed summer night.

And the event was the perfect setting for this funky magazine.  The space was dark with pops of bright color and the heat made the strawberry shaved ice taste amazing!  And to top it all off, one of my favorite movies, Marie Antoinette, was playing in the background.

I'm looking forward to next month's issue to see what this new magazine has in store, but I already know that I will be adding it to my monthly must-reads...

Enjoy some pictures from the event and click here if you'd like to see more.

New from Kate

Ask me who my favorite designer is and, without a doubt, I will say Kate Spade.  Every piece she makes is so unique, infused with her signature style of bright colors, funky patterns, and fancy ladylike elements.  Thus I was pleased as plum to see that Kate has introduced some new pieces to her online store:

Kate and I are so in sync!  She just knew that my favorite color combination is purple and dark pink (have you seen the Ladylike Chic logo?).

Kate always has a special elements every season and, this season, it's camels.  Enough said.

The Ruby Street bags are adorable.  I'm a sucker for a good bow...

Head on over to Kate Spade to see some more of her new amazing pieces!  It's like Ladylike Chic heaven over there...

The Staple - Part 3

A pair of lovely lace shorts is the star of the final installment of our Staple series.  Although wearing lace can sometimes look a bit dated, these Vero Moda's are so fresh with their neutral color and slight pleating.  You can wear them to the office, the park, or even out on a date!

I hope you've all enjoyed this series; I know I have really loved creating these outfits.... Later in the week, we'll be starting a new series involving some of our most ladylike fashion icons (hello, Jackie O!).

And, on a personal note, I'd like to wish you all a happy father's day!

Look 1: River Island top, Vero Moda shorts, BaubleBar necklace, and Kate Spade bracelet.
Look 2: ONLY top, Vero Moda shorts, Kenneth Jay Lane necklace, Manhattan Pearls earrings, and Calvin Klein Jeans sandals.
Look 3: Cutie blazer, Vero Moda shorts, and Mulberry clutch and shoes.

All in the Details

As I was working today, I just kept day dreaming about my home.  No, not the home I have now, but the one I will have some day.  The one that I will own and decorate.  The one that will represent who I am as a person.

Instead of thinking of big things like location, number of rooms, and floor space, all I kept thinking was details.  Where will the flower vases go?  How should I display my jewelry?  What books will I buy for my coffee table?

I found my inspiration in these photos and I have at least decided one thing for sure: my home will not just be a building, but a collection of details...
